    2012 Award Nominations Now Open

    Nominations are now being recieved for the 2012 Southern Baptist Disaster relief Awards. For the criteria for each award and a link to the nomination forms see the information below. The deadline for nominations is February 29, 2012.

    2011 Award Recipients

    The 2011 disaster relief awards were presented at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg, VA as a part of the 2011 Roundtable and Training event. Each of these recipients exemplifies the high calling of God in their unrelenting dedication to sharing the hope of Christ in the midst of disaster. Congratulations to the following recipients:

    Disaster Relief Award Criteria

    Robert E. Dixon Lifetime Achievement Award
    The Robert E. Dixon Award is presented to one individual who meets the following qualifications:

    • A local, state, or national volunteer or staff person
    • A person who has demonstrated the fruit of the Holy Spirit in his/her daily life as well as in their service through disaster relief
    • A person who has provided "above and beyond the call of duty" service through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief
    • A person who has contributed Christ-like leadership in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief

    The Dixon Award is a Hall of Fame type award. It is awarded based on a lifetime of service that helped shape the course of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Individuals nominated are considered pioneers or key people who have contributed to disaster relief in a manner that has made a significant impact on the ministry, both inside and outside their state.  Their involvement has brought Southern Baptist Disaster Relief forward in a significant manner. One (1) Lifetime Achievement Award can be presented each year.

    Nominate an individual for the 2012 Robert E. Dixon Lifetime Achievement Award 

     

    Joel W. Phillips Outstanding Achievement Award 

    The Joel W. Phillips Outstanding Achievement Award is presented to up to two individuals who meet the following qualifications:

    • A local, state, or national volunteer or staff person
    • A person who has demonstrated "Christ in the Crisis"
    • A person who has provided consistent outstanding leadership in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief for three (3) or more years
    • A person who has demonstrated outstanding ability or accomplishment in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief

    The Outstanding Achievement Award is a Most Valuable Player type award and is given for a series of services and/or performances. Individuals nominated should demonstrate 3+ years of service above and beyond the call of duty. No more than two (2) Outstanding Acheivement Awards are presented each year.

    Nominate an individual for the 2012 Joel W. Phillips Oustanding Achievment Award 

     

    Distinguished Service Award 

    The Distinguished Service Award is based on the previous year's service in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.:

    • A local, state, or national volunteer or staff person
    • A person who has provided distinguished service to the kingdom of God through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief during the most recent year
    • A person who has demonstrated "Christ in the Crisis" during the most recent year
    • A person who has demonstrated distinguished ability or accomplishment in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief during the most recent year

    The Distinguished Service Award is like an All Star award for a specific performance during a disaster and is based on the most recent year of response. Individuals nominated should have a testimony describing how they went beyond the call of duty and distinguished themselves during an actual response or series of responses during the most recent year.
