Many churches desire to reach their communities with the gospel but do not know where to begin. The ICE strategy will enable the local church to be intentional in reaching the community through evangelistic opportunities, community ministry, prayer walking and follow-up.
The first step of ICE is to select a target area and dates for an evangelism blitz or saturation. The church will prayerfully consider a site for mass tract distribution, street or door to door witnessing. Once this phase is completed then the implementation of the ICE trainings can begin.
The ICE strategy should be implemented over 12 months to allow the church to acclimate to the implementation of each of the four phases which are evangelism training, community ministry evangelism, prayer walking, and follow-up training. Each phase is put into action at a precise time for the greatest effectiveness.
The training time line is established after a target week or weekend is identified for witnessing saturation. The equipping process is as follows, evangelism training, 9 months from the target weekend, community ministry evangelism 7 months, prayer walking 3 months, and follow-up training 1 month out from the target weekend.
The key to administrating the ICE strategy is to equip your aggressive soul winners in the ICE approach and develop your own ICE team. The approach involves starting an evangelistic conversation with someone to discern if he is open to discuss his spiritual journey and how to have God's peace in his heart. Your ICE team will recruit and mentor other members how to begin witnessing conversations with individuals in your community and share their salvation story.
If you are interested in being transformed into a New Testament witness then ICE is for you. The strategy will help you to learn how to listen to the Holy Spirit as He guides you in the conversation. You will learn to determine if the person is open to continue a discussion about Jesus Christ and placing his trust in Him. This New Testament approach will revolutionize you and your church as you seek to become the witness Jesus Christ desires you to be.
