Disaster Relief Update

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

“Listen to counsel and receive instruction so that you may be wise in later life. Many plans are in a man's heart, but the LORD's decree will prevail,” Proverbs 19:20-21 (HCSB).

Disasters are never in our plan and in fact if we could, we would plan for them not to happen. In this fallen world, disasters have been happening and will continue to happen. Southern Baptists volunteers will continue to respond to meet the needs of the suffering in the midst of disaster as long as God tarries. These volunteers take time that they had planned to use for vacation or retirement and give that time back to God. They share their motive in serving others and they share the good news of the Gospel from His word. We may make plans but we also know the truth found here in Proverbs that, “the Lord’s decrees will prevail.”

Texas Fires

TX Fires 2011 CA RCSouthern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers from Arkansas, California, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas (SBTC & TBM), and Utah/Idaho continue to serve residents who have seen their communities devastated by fire. Volunteers are helping homeowners sift through the ashes of destroyed homes. Others are involved in; feeding, chaplaincy, operations, assessment, shower and laundry ministry.
