• Resources for Pastors and Chaplains

    Pastors and Chaplains, Do you know persons who are... depressed? nervous?  stressed?  anxious?  uneasy?  troubled?  distressed?  These people in your community need compassion, hope, care, and spiritual healing.  To help increase your awareness and skill for pastoral care the following resources are provided to you.

    1. Biblical Response to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) -  A six-session video training conference and accompanying manual recorded at Southern Seminary during the Chaplain Training Conference in March 2009. The manual, available for download along with two brochures, can also be used independently of the video training.  The training was developed by Chaplain John Steven Evans and Chaplain Richard E. Sale.
    2. Combat Stress Bible Study (pdf) - A 13-week Bible study that addresses the spiritual issues Veterans face when readjusting to life after combat.  By Dr. Brian Kimball, U.S. Navy Chaplain.
    3. Ministry Care Plan (pdf)  -  For Southern Baptist churches and ministers serving as Reserve Component Chaplains to use before, during, and after deployment.  By Dr.Jay Padgett, Army National Guard Chaplain.
