Revival Of Prayer-August 5, 2009
“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications” (Zech. 12:10, KJV).

Thursday, August 6 – Plead with God to teach us that it is sin against Him to stop praying for others. Beg God to examine each of us and convict us of our transgressions both individually and corporately concerning prayer. Ask Him to help us deal with our prayerlessness ruthlessly and repentantly.

“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way” (1 Sam. 12:23, AMP).

Friday, August 7 – Implore God to change our hearts about the nature of restraining prayer and to give us a deep grief for sinning against Him. Beg Him to help us honestly look to see if the people in our church are growing to develop stronger prayer lives.

“Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart . . . I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:1, 8, NASB).

Saturday, August 8 Petition the Lord to send forth His Spirit into our hearts, causing us to cry to Him so that our intercession will be His pleasure and a blessing to all mankind. Beg God to conform us to Jesus in His prayer life and to send a revival of prayer by pouring out the Spirit of intercession upon us.

“In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Rom. 8:26-27, NASB).

Sunday, August 9 – Ask God to teach us that unanswered prayers are only evidence that the answer is due at any time. Beg God to fortify us to continue praying for renewal and revival.

“ALSO [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up)” (Luke 18:1, AMP).

Monday, August 10 – Beseech the Lord to strengthen us to wrestle and agonize until the answer to our prayers for revival comes. Ask God to teach us to pray in surrender to His will, in faith, and in Jesus’ name with perseverance.

“I appeal to you [I entreat you], brethren, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love [given by] the Spirit, to unite with me in earnest wrestling in prayer to God in my behalf” (Rom. 15:30, AMP).

Tuesday, August 11 Pray that God would teach us that prayer centers on the person of God, His agenda and will. Plead for strength to pray according to who God is and what He can do.

“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matt. 6:9-10, KJV).

Wednesday, August 12 – Ask God to help us understand that prayer is His way to bring heart change in you and others. Pray that God would do whatever is necessary to make us a praying people. Ask God to make your church a house of prayer for all nations.

“And Jesus entered the temple . . . And He said to them, ‘It is written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER’; but you are making it a ROBBERS’ DEN” (Matt. 21:12-13, NASB).
