Commission By Relationship-September 23, 2009
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I commanded you . . . ” (Matt. 28:19-20, NASB).

Thursday, September 24 – Seek forgiveness for the lack of relationship with God that leaves us indifferent to making disciples as we are commanded. Ask God to bring us back to the quality of relationship with Him that would launch us out as His disciples.

“Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 28:19, AMP).

Friday, September 25 – Implore forgiveness for our teaching a gospel that bypasses continuous relationship with God by focusing on methods of evangelism. Ask God to move us from activity and programs back to the love relationship with Him that involves us in seeking to reach a lost world.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I commanded you . . . ” (Matt. 28:19-20, NASB).

Saturday, September 26 – Ask God to help us lead people into a relationship with Jesus as Lord. Beg God to help us return to His priorities for discipleship.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me” (Matt. 16:24, NASB).

Sunday, September 27 Beseech the Lord to help us understand that to become a fisher of men that we must meet the prerequisites of denying self and taking up the cross. Ask God for a vital relationship with him that would yield kingdom fruit in evangelism.

“And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men’” (Mark 1:17, NASB).

Monday, September 28 Plead with God for a resurgence of solid biblical teaching about Christ and His Lordship that would guide us into deeper intimacy with God.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations . . . to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you . . . ” (Matt. 28:19-20, KJV).

Tuesday, September 29 – Beg God to bring the 50,000 churches and missions, with their leaders, in the Southern Baptist Convention into the love relationship with the Lord who is on mission in our world.

“But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first . . .” (Rev. 2:4-5, NASB).

Wednesday, September 30 - Plead with God to forgive us for focusing on religious activity rather than on Christ and our relationship with Him. Ask God to help us see that our failure at making disciples is due to our lack of relationship with Jesus Christ. Ask God to revive us and make us one with Him, that His heart would be ours also.

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me” (John 17:20-21, KJV).
