Prayer Guide – Crying For Resurgence – October 14, 2009
“O God, restore us, and cause Thy face to shine upon us, and we will be saved” (Psalm 80:3, NASB)

Thursday, October 15 Entreat the Lord to bring each of us in His church in North America into such a relationship with Himself that the nature of the Son of God would be revealed through us in the ordinary things of life.

“But when He, Who had chosen and set me apart [even] before I was born and had called me by His grace . . . saw fit and was pleased to reveal (unveil, disclose) His Son within me . . . “ (Gal. 1:15-16, AMP).

Friday, October 16 Seek help from the Lord to repent of our casual approach to God, discipleship and prayer. Ask God to restore and favor us. Cry out for a resurgence of prayer, discipleship, Christlikeness.

“O God, restore us and cause Thy face to shine upon us, and we will be saved”  (Ps.80:3, NASB)

Saturday, October 17 Implore God to work in our hearts to restore Christ to the center of our lives and churches until we are overwhelmed by His person, and pray what’s on His heart.

"I searched for a man among them who should . . . stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. ‘Thus I have poured out My indignation on them . . . ’”(Eze. 22:30-31, NASB).

Sunday, October 18 Pray for God to teach us that following Christ requires continuous dealing with our sin and radical obedience. Ask Him to reveal any uncrucified areas of self and to help us repent of them.  Entreat Him to help us return to His terms of discipleship.

“And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conforming wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also] is not worthy of Me” (Matt. 10:38, AMP).

Monday, October 19 Beg God to forgive us for preaching a gospel in this generation that has removed the cross, its pain and suffering, and the radical accountability for sin that is part of following Jesus. Ask God to help us see that such teaching originates from Satan, that it is a stumbling block to God and His work, and for boldness to call it what it is in our churches.

“From that time Jesus Christ began to show His disciples that He must go . . . and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests . . . and be killed, and be raised up . . . Peter . . . began to rebuke Him …But He . . . said . . . ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s’” (Matt. 16:21-23, NASB).

Tuesday, October 20 Ask God to lead us through a deeper process of death to self. Beg God to revive us, transforming our hearts, and conforming everything to look exactly like His Son who lives in us.

And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me…” (Luke 9:23, AMP).

Wednesday, October 21 Entreat God to bring us to repentance for forsaking our relationship with He who does not want any to perish and to restore our passion for the lost.

“ . . . He saw the city and wept over it, saying, ‘If you had known in this day . . . the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes . . .” (Luke 19:41-42, NASB).
