Prayer Guide – Seeking God Wholeheartedly–November 4, 2009
“How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with all their heart” (Psalm 119:2, NASB).
Thursday, November 5 – Entreat the Lord to direct our hearts to cry out with great fervency for the word of God to have free course, spread rapidly, and be honored and glorified in our nation. Beg Him to teach us His statutes and to help us return to the way of His commands.
“Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you” (2 Thess. 3:1, NASB).
Friday, November 6 – Pray for God to teach us how closely the powerful proclamation of the Word and prayer are tied. Ask God to raise up intercessors who will not stop crying out for the rapid spread of the gospel until our nation is filled with the knowledge of God’s glory.
“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence” (Isa. 62:6, KJV).
Saturday, November 7 – Pray that God would give us understanding that we may keep His laws. Ask Him to incline our hearts toward His Word. Beg Him to put His Spirit in us and cause us to walk in His statutes.
“Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes . . . Give me understanding . . . Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness” (Psalm 119:33-36, KJV).
Sunday, November 8 – Ask God for constraining grace to be kept from anything that would lead us to stray from His commands, and to revive us according to His Word. Beg Him to restore us to vigorous life and health in His ways.
“My earthly life cleaves to the dust; revive and stimulate me according to Your word . . . Restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.” (Psalm 119:25, 37, AMP)!
Monday, November 9 – Implore God to teach us that one of the ways we seek Him is to keep His Word. Ask God to make us aware of our tendency to wander from it.
“And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory” (Ex. 33:18, KJV).
Tuesday, November 10 – Beg God to keep our hearts from growing cold or careless in affection for His word. Ask Him to help us delight in His statutes.
“With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments . . . Teach me Your statutes” (Psalm 119:10-12, NASB).
Wednesday, November 11 – Beseech God to free His Word to bear fruity and be honored. Ask Him to turn our hearts toward His Word and revive us according to His lovingkindness that we may keep it. Beg Him to help us obey His commands.
“Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, so that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.” (Psalm 119:88, NASB).
