Prayer Connection - March 31, 2009

Dear Beloved Intercessor,

As I travel across North America, I am seeing an increase in people giving their lives to Christ. More Christians are repenting, getting right with God, and obediently sharing their faith. Only God can save a soul, but Acts 1:8 reminds us that we are part of the process. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses.”

The celebration of new faith is baptism. We’re sharing a story about a church that experienced spontaneous Sunday morning baptism that seemed to have no end. Pray expectantly for what God will prompt you to do—then obey His prompting.

The eunuch said, ‘Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized? . . . They both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch; and he baptized him” (Acts 8:26-39, NASB).

Thank you for praying and for being on the NAMB prayer team.

For God's glory,
Elaine Helms

God at Work Story:   Spontaneous Baptism

Read how God used a creative way to help people make an eternal decision. One minister said, “It was like being at Pentecost – seeing the Spirit of God move on the people.”

Other Prayer Requests

"Across North America"

From NAMB Coordinator Neal Hughes for “Across North America”

Pray for pilots that are testing “God’s Plan for Sharing” 2010 campaign, “Across North America” this month. The campaign is designed to get the believer in the pew doing three simple things… Prayer-walk a strategic community, distribute a clear gospel presentation called “Find it Here” (www.FinditHere.com), and give an invitation for an unbeliever to attend their Easter services on April 12 (accompanied by a five-week follow up effort).

All the pilot associations are highly engaged doing the above between March 28 and April 12 (follow up into May). A media campaign is also impacting their communities at the same time. Already we are hearing stories of people being saved, and churches experiencing revival as they pray, engage, sow, and harvest the gospel.

Pray in particular for the 2009 Pilots for “Across North America” 2010:

  • Inland Empire Association in Riverside, California
  • Lubbock Area Baptist Association in Lubbock, Texas
  • Greater Philadelphia Baptist Association in Pennsylvania
  • Stone Mountain Baptist Association in East Atlanta, Georgia
  • Co-pilot, Laurens Baptist Association in Dublin, Georgia.

Please continue to pray for Jimmy Kinnaird, NAMB Personal Evangelism Resource Coordinator. He is in the final editing stage of a new relational evangelism resource, RELAY, to help believers better share the gospel in all their relationships. It needs to go to production in early April. Pray for this to be used by God to inspire believers to intentional relational evangelism.

Please pray for local churches in San Diego as they reach out to their communities to assist seniors, military residents, and youth (through tutoring, mentoring, and foster care ministry) for six months during Faith in Action Xtreme, beginning Easter 2009. Pray that God would provide strong and fruitful partnerships with local agencies and national partners and that many would be served in Jesus’ name and come to know the Savior.

  • For a spiritual awakening in the Baltimore region.
  • For resources and partnerships to remain strong.
  • For pastors and their churches to follow up on new believers.
  • For the more than 50 outreaches planned for '09.
  • For church starters and their ten new works.
  • For the mobilization of hundreds of volunteers to serve Christ in 2009.
  • For the March Youth Evangelism Conference

Please pray for this need to be met:
2010 Vancouver/Whistler Olympic/Paralympic Winter Games – individual/couple from November 30/09 – March 30/10 to work out of the Canadian National Prayer office that will organize prayer stations at venues and enlist churches in the Metro Vancouver area to be a place for prayer.
