Prayer Connection - April 14, 2009

Dear Beloved Intercessor,

Christian college students give me hope for our future. My husband and I got a taste of what thousands of students did over their spring breaks—by serving a group in New York City from Clemson University, SC. They transformed an old church building for a new church launch. The church planters and onlookers were truly amazed, and invigorated by their work ethic, skill, and spirit of joy in serving. The highlight for many was being an answer to prayer.

Year-round prayer on college campuses is another growing phenomenon that is impacting communities. A University of Georgia student writes about that in this issue’s “God at Work” story. I hope you will read it.

“Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself as an example of those who believe” (1 Tim. 4:12, NASB).

Thank you for praying and for being on the NAMB prayer team.

For God's glory,
Elaine Helms

Weekly Prayer Focus for April 15 – Meeting God

“Meeting God is not always a joyous experience . . . You either meet God in repentance to renew your love relationship or you meet God in judgment and disaster.   Which encounter do you choose?” – Henry Blackaby

Scripture
“Prepare to meet your God, O Israel” (Amos 4:12, NASB).

Prayer
Lord, for the glory of Your name, we cry out for a fresh encounter with You that will lead us to humility, brokenness, repentance and revival. Amen.

Other Prayer Requests

"Across North America"

From NAMB Coordinator Neal Hughes

Thank you for praying for the pilot cities and the emphasis leading up to Easter. Pray now for the follow up this month, and for many to come to know Christ because of these efforts.

Pray in particular for the 2009 Pilots for “Across North America” 2010:

  • Inland Empire Association in Riverside, California,
  • Lubbock Area Baptist Association in Lubbock, Texas,
  • Greater Philadelphia Baptist Association in Pennsylvania
  • Stone Mountain Baptist Association in East Atlanta, Georgia
  • Co-pilot, Laurens Baptist Association in Dublin, Georgia.

To the best of our knowledge, in the five “Across North America” Pilot 09 campaigns, there has been recorded through NAMB’s Evangelism Response Center’s data base, eight decisions to follow Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior!  This data base records a response from an individual to the media blitz (www.FinditHere.com ) going on in their city, March 28-April 12. In addition, each pilot area has experienced a unique revival among the pastors and people, as they have prayer walked, presented gospel literature in their community, and invited people to Easter services, April 12.  Praise the Lord!

Thank you for praying for Jimmy Kinnaird and the RELAY project. It has gone to design! Pray now for skill and wisdom for the designers, that no components get lost in the production, and for this resource to be used by God to inspire believers to intentional relational evangelism.

Church Planting – Ask God to continue to provide for Nehemiah church planters in this economy. Pray Luke 10:2 for the Lord of the harvest to call workers into rural regions, resulting in a church planting movement across our continent. Pray also for God’s direction and call of new staff for the Resource Development and Delivery Team at NAMB.

Please pray for local churches in San Diego as they reach out to their communities to assist seniors, military residents, and youth (through tutoring, mentoring, and foster care ministry) for six months during Faith in Action Xtreme, beginning Easter 2009. Pray that God would provide strong and fruitful partnerships with local agencies and national partners and that many would be served in Jesus’ name and come to know the Savior.

  • For a spiritual awakening in the Baltimore region.
  • For resources and partnerships to remain strong.
  • For pastors and their churches to follow up on new believers.
  • For the more than 50 outreaches planned for '09.
  • For church starters and their ten new works.
  • For the mobilization of hundreds of volunteers to serve Christ in 2009.
  • For the many pastors in attendance on April 24th and 25th at the Pastor’s Retreat
  •  For the vacation Bible schools, backyard Bible clubs, and sports camps, coming up this summer

Please pray for:

  • Velocity church that was launched on April 5th. Reaching networks, connecting with the right leadership, and with their partners.
  • Leader conference in Orlando and the New City – assimilation.
  • The staff to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be graced with wisdom and courage to do God’s will in the city of Cleveland.
  • Lost family and friends; may God by His Spirit wash them in His blood.
