Prayer Connection - June 23, 2009
Dear Beloved Intercessor,
God is not looking for people with great abilities as much as for those who are obedient to do what He calls and empowers them to do. This was evident when God called Gideon to lead a battle against a superior army, and when He called David from being a shepherd to be the king of Israel. See Judges 6:11-14, 7:2-22; 1 Samuel 16:1-13
Jesus reminds us that apart from Him we can do nothing. But we also know that through Christ we can do all things. See John 15:5 and Phil. 4:13.
If God is calling you out of your comfort zone, be quick to obey and watch what He will do. We are sharing a story about a postal worker God called to be a contractor on a ministry building project, which demonstrates the unchanging power of our holy God. Praise Him today.
“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19, NASB).
Thank you for praying and for being on the NAMB prayer team.
For God's glory,
Elaine Helms

Weekly Prayer Focus for June 24– God's Judgment
“God revealed . . . that military defeat, drought, famine, pestilence, and various plagues, and illnesses were all to be viewed as God communicating His offense at people’s sin . . . God expected the people to make the connection between their circumstances and His voice.” –Henry and Richard Blackaby
Scripture
“The Lord will send upon you curses, confusion, and rebuke . . . ” (Deut. 28:20, NASB).

Andy Weems, a campus pastor, sends this praise and prayer report. This year the Wright State University International Dinner sponsored by Crosswalk Collegiate Ministry did have a few hiccups along the way, but the night was a huge success. Ten days before the event, the university mistakenly canceled our room reservation. Two days before, the WSU Gospel Choir canceled, and all other efforts to find musicians failed. A local church and the Central State University Chorus came to our rescue and the night has a huge hit. Various ethnic restaurants in the area donated food, and many of the students and their families prepared food in addition. At the end of the night, students took home a lot of food. The purpose of this event is to build relationships around the dinner table to connect American students with international ones to find host families and English partners. We build relationships much the way Christ did, sharing the Gospel with these students. Most of the students participating this year were from communist countries where the church is prohibited and under persecution. The highlight of the evening was the Central State University Chorus and Highest Praise, an interpretive movement group from WSU. Both groups "wowed" the participants and the chorus even received a standing ovation on several songs. Thank you for your prayers and support of Collegiate ministry. Each year we spend time and effort reaching out to students all over the world on our local university campuses. Please keep this ministry in your prayers, since our work goes on every day of every week throughout the year. ohiobcm@juno.com
