Prayer Connection - September 1, 2009
Dear Beloved Intercessor,
“Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come . . . from Jesus Christ . . . who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood ― and He made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father ― to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Rev. 1:4-6, NASB).
What a glorious heritage is ours, and what a privilege to spread the joy of our salvation, as “priests” of our God. There is nothing that brings God more glory than when we are so in love with Him that His love and compassion spill out on everyone around us. They see our “good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven.” (See Matt. 5:16) Read the story in this issue about how one church impacted their community with a “Big Serve.”
Let’s all demonstrate God’s love this month as we interact with others, even those who may not agree with us. With many issues vying for our attention, remember that what people believe about God is the main issue. “Sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness.” (See Prov. 3:3-6, 15:1-3, 16:4, 6-7, 20-24, NASB) Share your story of what God is doing in your area.
May God empower you to be His “priest” to a hurting world. Thanks for praying with the NAMB prayer team.
For God's glory,
Elaine Helms

Weekly Prayer Focus for September 2 – What Fills Our Hearts
“ . . . Our words are such an accurate reflection of our spiritual condition . . . Our words affirm our true inner condition.” –Joseph Stowell
Scripture
“For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart” (Matt. 12:34, NASB).
Prayer
O Lord, teach us the truth that what comes out of our mouths is an accurate reflection of the condition of our hearts. For Your name’s sake, revive our hearts that our tongues would be transformed. Give us the kinds of hearts You can bless. Amen
