Historic Floods in Georgia

The cleanup following record floods in Georgia continues. Fourteen Georgia counties have been declared national disaster areas. Still other counties have been affected, but not declared. The Georgia Commissioner of Insurance, John Oxendine, estimated losses of $250 million.

In support of Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, a disaster call center has been established at the North American Mission Board. Homeowners needing assistance with cleanup of their flooded homes are being asked to call 1-800-460-6881. Operators answering the phones are taking contact information and passing the information on to teams in the field. The call center is open from 8 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days per week.

The North American Mission Board has also opened the Disaster Operations Center (DOC) at a level III activation. Traveling teams can access the Disaster Operations Center at 888-462-8657.
