Read Southern Baptist Leaders Develop Coordinated Response Plan in Haiti here.

This past Sunday, Southern Baptists along with the Christians of Haiti joined together in prayer, drawing near to God. Individuals, churches, and associations are creatively promoting the “Buckets of Hope” project, soliciting the help of their communities and businesses in the process. This project alone would make a tremendous impact on Haiti, but that is only a portion of what Southern Baptists are doing now and will do in the years to come. A cooperative effort under the leadership of the Holy Spirit will truly bring new life to this country.

A water pump was recently installed in a hand-dug well located at a Haitian church. This church can now share pure drinking water along with living water with those in the community. Sam Porter, Oklahoma disaster relief director, commented, “the pastor and his wife danced in the water.” God only knows of the ministry that will take place there at the well. Southern Baptists plan to continue drilling and reclaiming wells and engaging in other projects in support of Haitian Baptist churches.

Buckets of Hope

Mike Gaines, Colorado state disaster relief director, reported, “Exciting things are happening with the ‘Buckets of Hope’ campaign in Colorado.” Churches in the state are finding ways to turn “Buckets of Hope” into an outreach effort in their communities. One church, Community of Grace in Aurora, has the local Chick-Fil-A restaurant in on the action. Read more about happenings in Colorado and how other churches are promoting “Buckets of Hope” on the FaceBook page. Click on the Discussions tab to read more or share what your church is doing.

“Buckets of Hope” - $40 sends a five-gallon bucket filled with food items that will feed a Haitian family for a week. A bucket and the specified contents will cost about $30 and a $10 donation will ship the bucket to Haiti. To help, visit the “Buckets of Hope” website. Log on to the SBDR Facebook page and tell us what your church or organization is doing. To see more details about “Buckets of Hope,” visit the “Buckets of Hope” website.
