More than six of ten Americans surveyed said the issue of illegal immigration is "extremely" or "very" important to them.

Twenty-nine percent of Americans think immigration should be the top government priority.

This belief came in ahead of other popular issues such as healthcare (23 percent) and the general state of the economy (10 percent).

Immigration came in second only behind Iraq, which 63 percent of Americans say should be the government’s top priority.
