 Privacy Statement

The North American Mission Board (NAMB) has created this Privacy Statement in order to demonstrate NAMB’s commitment to privacy on NAMB’s website, www.NAMB.Net. NAMB’s Privacy Statement sets forth NAMB’s information gathering, use, and disclosure practices solely for personally identifiable information collected by NAMB at NAMB’s website. NAMB’s website may contain links to other websites that are not operated by NAMB. NAMB is in no any way responsible for the privacy practices, the collection, use, or disclosure of information by such other websites, or the content of such other websites.

NAMB encourages its users to be aware when they leave NAMB’s website and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects any personally identifiable information.

The Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information
As used in NAMB’s Privacy Statement, the phrase “personally identifiable information” is personal information that identifies a specific natural person and means: (a) a first and last name; (b) an address, including a street name, city or town, and zip code (but excluding a post office box); (c) an e-mail address; (d) a telephone number; (e) a Social Security number; and/or, (f) an account number or credit card number. In NAMB’s Privacy Statement, the phrase “personally identifiable information” is abbreviated as “PII”.

NAMB is the owner of all PII that is collected by NAMB on NAMB’s website. NAMB may collect PII from users, customers, and in responses to online surveys and group discussions at several different points on NAMB’s website. NAMB will not sell or rent PII to other organizations in ways that are different from what is disclosed in this Privacy Statement. NAMB may share aggregate demographic information that does not contain PII.

IP Addresses
NAMB’s website uses IP addresses to help NAMB analyze trends, administer NAMB’s website, track user movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses do not contain PII. Cookies
NAMB’s website uses "cookies". A "cookie" is a piece of data stored on a user's hard drive that contains information about the user. A cookie does not contain and is not linked to PII while a user is on NAMB’s website. For instance, by setting a cookie on NAMB’s website, a user would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on NAMB’s website. If a user rejects the cookie, the user may still use NAMB’s website, but would be limited in some areas of NAMB’s website. Cookies can also enable NAMB to track and target the interests of users to enhance their experience on NAMB’s website.

Various Registrations
In order to receive certain updates or use certain features on NAMB’s website, a user may have to complete a registration form. During registration a user may be is required to provide PII, such as the user’s name and/or an e-mail address. PII may be used to contact the user about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and to provide information about other topics and discussion groups. If requested, it is optional for a user to provide demographic information (such as income level and gender) and unique identifiers (such as a social security number), which enable NAMB to provide a more personalized experience on NAMB’s website.

Newsletters
A user may subscribe to certain of NAMB’s newsletters on NAMB’s website. In that case, NAMB will request PII, such as the user’s name, mailing address, and/or an e-mail address.

PII may be used send such newsletters and may be used to contact the user about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and to provide information about other topics and discussion groups.

Contact Information
NAMB’s website includes an online catalog for customers to order goods and services, and contact forms for customers to request information and services. In such instances, NAMB collects customer PII, such as a name, an e-mail address, a mailing address, an account number and/or credit card number. PII may be used to contact customers and send customers information about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and to provide information about other topics and discussion groups. NAMB will not sell or rent PII to other organizations in ways that are different from what is disclosed in this Privacy Statement. PII may be disclosed as required or permitted by law.

A user or customer may opt-out of receiving future mailings and e-mailings from NAMB by following the Choice/Opt-out instructions found at the end of this Privacy Statement.

Online Surveys and Discussion Groups
NAMB may conduct online surveys, which may request PII, such as a name, an e-mail address, and/or a mailing address. PII may be used to contact users and send users information about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and to provide information about other topics and discussion groups.

Information collected by NAMB’s online surveys may be used to help NAMB understand the interests and concerns of NAMB’s supporters and website users, and how they perceive NAMB and NAMB's mission.

NAMB will not sell or rent PII to other organizations in ways that are different from what is disclosed in this Privacy Statement. PII may be disclosed as required or permitted by law.

NAMB may provide opportunities for e-mail discussion groups. Information collected by NAMB from such discussion groups may be used to contact users about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and to provide information about other topics and discussion groups.

A user participating in an online survey or discussion group may opt-out of receiving future mailings and e-mailings from NAMB by following the Choice/Opt-out instructions found at the end of this Privacy Statement.

Third Party Contractors
NAMB may contract with third parties to provide services to NAMB, including services relating to the internal operations of NAMB’s website, the storage and retrieval of information, including PII, and other services. PII, on-line survey information, discussion group information, and aggregate demographic information may be maintained on NAMB’s servers or on NAMB’s third party contractor’s servers.

Use of Shipping Companies and Credit Card Processing Companies
NAMB may use shipping companies to ship orders, and credit card processing companies to process and bill customers for goods and services. Such companies should not sell, rent, retain, share, store or use PII gathered by NAMB for any secondary purposes.

NAMB may affiliate with other organizations to provide goods and services. When a user or customer signs up for or orders goods or services, NAMB may share PII as necessary to provide such goods and services, and to provide information about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and information about other topics and discussion groups. Such affiliated organizations should not sell, rent, retain, share, store or use PII gathered by NAMB, except for the purpose of providing such goods and services.

Tell-A-Friend
If a user or customer decides to use NAMB’s referral service for informing a friend about NAMB, they may be requested to provide the friend's name and e-mail address. NAMB may send the friend information about NAMB, the goods and services available on NAMB’s website, and to provide information about other topics and discussion groups, and NAMB may also invite them to visit NAMB’s website. NAMB maintains such information for the purpose of sending such e-mails and mailings. The friend may contact NAMB to request the removal of information concerning them from NAMB’s database.

Security
NAMB’s website has security measures in place to reasonably protect against loss, misuse, and alteration of information, including PII, that is under NAMB’s control. This includes a firewall and 24 monitoring of website activities by NAMB’s hosting service provider, as well as 128-bit SSL encryption (where allowed by law) on transaction oriented operations between customers and NAMB via NAMB’s transaction service provider.

NAMB uses SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online. NAMB also takes reasonable steps to protect PII off-line. Access to PII is restricted in NAMB’s offices. Access to PII is limited on a “need to know” basis to enable NAMB’s employees and contractors to perform their specific job functions and responsibilities. NAMB’s employees use password-protected screen-savers when they leave their workstation. When they return, they must re-enter their password to re-gain access to PII. NAMB also has periodic training of NAMB’s employees on NAMB’s security and privacy practices. NAMB’s employees are periodically reminded about the importance that NAMB places on security and privacy, and what they can do to ensure that PII is protected. Finally, NAMB’s servers that maintain PII are kept in a secure environment.

Protection of Children
NAMB cares about children. NAMB works to voluntarily comply with provisions of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) and its accompanying Federal Trade Commission regulations, which establish United States Federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet. NAMB’s website is directed to adults and is not directed to children. NAMB’s website does not knowingly collect or maintain personal information, as that phrase is defined in COPPA, from or about children under 13 years of age.

NAMB’s website is not intended to solicit, collect, or maintain information of any kind from or about children under 13 years of age. NAMB’s website has been designed to block knowing acceptance of information from or about children under 13 years of age whenever age related information is requested.

It is possible that by fraud, deception, or misrepresentation by others, NAMB may receive information from or about a child under 13 years of age. If NAMB is notified of such a situation, upon verification of the information, NAMB will immediately seek to obtain verifiable parental consent or NAMB will otherwise delete personal information pertaining to such child from NAMB’s database. Please notify NAMB of its receipt of personal information from or pertaining to a child under 13 years of age by contacting NAMB using this form.

Correcting Updating, and Removing Personally Identifiable Information
NAMB will use reasonable efforts to provide a way for NAMB’s website users and customers to request that NAMB correct, update, or remove that respective user's or customer’s PII in or from NAMB’s database. If a user's or a customer’s PII changes, or if a user or customer no longer desires NAMB’s goods or services, such user or customer may contact NAMB and request that NAMB correct, update, or remove that respective user's or customer’s PII in or from NAMB’s database. This can usually be done at the member information page or by contacting NAMB’s Customer Support.

NAMB’s website gives users and customers the following options for requesting that NAMB correct, update, or remove PII previously provided to NAMB.

Notification of Changes
If NAMB decides to change its Privacy Statement with respect to PII, NAMB will post PII changes on NAMB’s website so users and customers are aware of what PII NAMB collects, how NAMB uses such PII, and under what circumstances NAMB may disclose such PII. If at any time NAMB decides to use PII in a manner different from that stated at the time such PII was collected, NAMB will use reasonable efforts to notify users and customers for whom NAMB has a current e-mail addresses of such change by way of an e-mail. Such users and customers will then have a choice as to whether or not to authorize NAMB to use their PII in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected. If NAMB cannot contact a particular user or customer concerning their respective PII, NAMB will use that PII in accordance with the Privacy Statement that was in effect at the time such PII was collected.

Choice/Opt-Out
NAMB’s website provides users and customers the opportunity to opt-out of receiving further mailings and e-mailings from NAMB at the point where NAMB requests information about the user, customer, survey participant, or discussion group participant.

NAMB’s website also provides users, customers, survey participants, and discussion group participants with the following options for removing their PII from NAMB’s database and for notifying NAMB that they do not want to receive future communications or services from NAMB’s website.
