Missional Assessment Profile (MAP)
MAP is a tool is to help churches assess their evangelistic and missional effectiveness and assist them in making more disciples.
A new product called MAPchurch is being offered online at MAPchurch.com. It will be available at no cost to SBC churches.
MAPchurch measures the perceptions that your church members have about their church and features a 126-question survey to which selected members will respond. To find out more about MAPchurch, go to "What is MAPchurch?"
Affiliation. MAPchurch has been developed in a partnership between the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (IMB). It is intended to assist SBC churches, local associations, state conventions, seminaries and national agencies.
How it works. To use MAPchurch, churches will designate someone to be their MAPchurch administrator. The administrator will register the church at MAPchurch.com to start the process. If key information needs to be clarified, a NAMB administrator will contact the church administrator directly. Working together these two administrators will complete the registration process that includes pulling in the church's ACP data if available and authorizing access for the church members who will be selected to participate in the MAPchurch surveys. More about how it works...
Surveys. The survey itself consists of questions from 18 topics organized into 9 categories to facilitate statistical analysis and scoring. Participants will answer each question with Strongly Agree, Somewhat Agree, Somewhat Disagree, or Strongly Disagree. Optionally, the pastor and church staff may take the survey separately from the members, facilitating comparison of leadership and membership responses.
Reporting. Results of the MAPchurch process - evaluations, findings and recommendations - will be available online. The church administrator may also download the reports in handy PDF files to facilitate easy presentation to the church. Results will always be presented in aggregate to protect anonymity-individual identities or responses will never be revealed.
Measurements. Results will be summarized by authenticity measurement: knowing, obeying, connecting, and leading. More detailed results will be provided by category, by topic, and by each specific survey question. Specific recommendations will be offered to the church for how to become more missional and where to turn for assistance. Reports will be available in aggregate to state conventions and local associations, but individual church anonymity will be assured.
