Ministry Projects: Families on Mission is providing families the exciting opportunity to serve in Bryson City, N.C. Ministry projects will be coordinated through the North American Mission Board and the Tennessee River Baptist Association Director of Missions, Mike Dellinger.  The Tennessee River Baptist Association is located in western North Carolina.  Bryson City and Cherokee are two of the most populated towns in Swain County.  There are 21 churches in the county and the Cherokee Indian Reservation.  Most of the churches are small and would receive encouragement and blessings from the participating families.  It is estimated the county has a population of 13,146 (2004 census) and many do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This community needs to experience the love and kindness of the Lord through the following mission opportunities.

Participants will work with the Swain Baptist Association and local Southern Baptist churches to minister to the lost and hurting people of Western North Carolina. Each family will have the opportunity to reach out to the community through different outreach activities such as handing out door hangers, taking surveys, and visitation to shut-ins. Families will also have the chance to minister to people in the community through assisting with Vacation Bible School, Backyard Bible Club, block and community parties, nursing home ministry, campground ministry, and sports camps.

Housing
: Families will stay in a local motel in Bryson City or Cherokee.

Meals and Meetings: We will meet at a local church for evening meals, training sessions, and evening worship times.  Breakfast will be at the hotel and sack lunches will be provided for ministry project days.
