Families on Mission
Helen, Georgia

The third 2008 Families on Mission project took place from June 21-26 in Helen, Ga. The project consisted of more than 70 participants from approximately 20 families. The project coordinator for the week was Walter Mickels, and the speaker was Jim Burton. Mount Yonah Baptist Church hosted dinner and worship each night.

During the week, participants had the opportunity to take part in many different ministry projects. These included Vacation Bible School, window washing, river clean-up, and construction projects.

The most unique experience of the week was on Tuesday afternoon when participants had the opportunity to be part of a "gas buy-down." Town residents could get $4 off their gas purchase (the equivalent of a free gallon of gas), have their windows washed for free, and have their tire pressure checked. This offered participants many opportunities to share and show Christ’s love.

The missions offering totaling $1,400 went to the Georgia Mountain Resort Ministries.

Throughout the week, the gospel was presented 200 times resulting in three known salvations.
