Families on Mission
Ruston/Farmerville, Louisiana
July 11-16, 2009
Cost: $250 per person
Minimum age: Completion of kindergarten
Ministry Projects: Families on Mission is providing families the exciting opportunity to serve in the rural setting of North Central Louisiana. Ministry projects will be coordinated through the North American Mission Board and Barry Joyner, the Director of Missions for the Concord/Union Baptist Association. This part of Louisiana includes small towns and small churches. Many of the churches are in need of volunteers to help conduct Vacation Bible School and awareness events. They would receive great encouragement and blessings as they seek to reach the lost and minister to their community.
Participants will work through the leadership of Barry and the local Southern Baptist churches to minister to the people of North Central Louisiana through different outreach activities such as Vacation Bible School, Backyard Bible Clubs, block and community parties, nursing home ministry, campground ministry, sports camps, and general acts of kindness. Families will also work with Rolling Hills Ministry and its director, David Abernathy, in sorting and distributing food, clothes, and furniture to those in need in North Louisiana.
Housing: Families will stay in a local motel in Ruston.
Meals and Meetings: We will meet at a local church for evening meals and evening worship times. Breakfast will be at the hotel and sack lunches will be provided for ministry project days.
