Disaster Relief assessment team in Haiti; bulletin inserts available

A Southern Baptist Disaster Relief assessment team is on the ground in Haiti this week to learn how Southern Baptists can best begin their long-term response. The Jan. 12 earthquake that has claimed thousands of lives and left an estimated 1.5 million homeless.

Meanwhile, NAMB has begun producing weekly bulletin inserts to keep Southern Baptists informed about the response. Click the image at left to download this week's edition.

Missionary Focus: The Forgotten Prayer

God called Mickie Kelly to plant churches in hard areas. That's what led him first to Idaho, and two years ago to Payson, Utah – an area that is 90-95 percent Mormon.

While still in Idaho that Kelly was asked to pray for a man who was a Mormon, so he did so and moved on. Later, in Payson, Kelly learned that the man he prayed for now lived only five minutes away.

Mickie eventually led Aaron to Christ, and he became the first attender of what is now Crossings Church.

"Prayer has taken on a whole new meaning for me," Kelly says. "It is my strategy."
