Samaria Update—May 2005

This periodic update is designed to help churches that have    embraced the  Acts 1:8 Challenge be aware of resources from the North American Mission Board (NAMB). Use them as your
church plans and implements its strategy to be involved in
reaching North America for Christ.

"Prepare"—Helps for Planning Your Missions Project

  • The Volunteer Mobilization Project Logistics Manual is designed to assist leaders in planning missions projects that provide the best possible experience for volunteers. The manual includes everything from self-help questions and a planning checklist to handling emergencies and holding a celebration service once the team returns.
  • Setting a Course is a guidebook and journal for short-term missions volunteers designed to be used before, during, and after a project to guarantee a positive and meaningful experience. Click here to order or call 1 866 407-NAMB (6262).
  • Adams & Associates International offers insurance services for missions-sending organizations. For more information about coverage for your missions trip, visit www.aaintl.com, or call 1 800 922-8438.

"Learn"—Use Video to Promote North American Missions

As often as possible, and in as many settings as possible (worship service, missions groups, prayer meetings, etc.), show video segments on the work of North American missionaries. Two excellent video resources include the subscription-based E-ssentials for the On Mission Church
and the annual North American Missions Emphasis video,
both produced by NAMB. To order E-ssentials, call
1 800 634-2462, e-mail essentials@namb.net, or visit www.essentials.tv. North American Missions Emphasis
video segments are available for download at www.AnnieArmstrong.com, or may be requested by
e-mail at aaeo@namb.net, or by calling (770) 410-6321.

"Pray"—Pray for Our NAMB Missionaries

Sign up to receive the quarterly  online prayer gram or Daily PrayerGram for our NAMB missionaries. Print and share it with other members of your church, Bible study, or small group. Register here to receive the PrayerGram by mail or missionary prayer requests by e-mail.

"Give"—Support North American Missions

If your church is planning to participate in the North American Missions Emphasis, visit www.AnnieArmstrong.com today for resources. The goal of the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions is $55 million in 2005. Your church can be a part of supporting the more than 5,000 missionaries sharing Christ throughout North America.

"Go"—Plan to Participate in Crossover 2005  in Nashville

Crossover is an annual effort by Southern Baptists to touch the people of the host city during the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sponsored by NAMB in cooperation with local churches and associations, Crossover volunteers team up with local churches for a wide range of evangelistic efforts. This year's Crossover event is June 17-19 in Nashville, Tenn. For more information about Crossover 2005, contact Jerry Essary at 1 800 558-2090, ext. 2059, e-mail crossover@tnbaptist.org, or visit www.crossovernashville.org

"Tell"—Operation Inasmuch Helps Churches

Operation Inasmuch is a church-based, one-day ministry evangelism event that seeks to mobilize believers in a
hands-on-local blitz of their community. Pastor David Crocker of
Central Baptist Church, Fountain City, Tenn., (near Knoxville) has led his church to embrace Operation
Inasmuch and they work with three other churches in their community to impact the world for Christ. Learn more at www.operationinasmuch.com, or contact David Crocker at dcrocker50@aol.com.

"Send"—MSC Offers Pathway to Service

Adults have the opportunity to serve as self-funded missionaries for four months or more in North America.
Mission Service Corps missionaries support themselves financially through raising personal support from family, friends, and associated churches; bivocationally through marketplace employment; retirement income; or personal savings. Their ministries support evangelism and church planting efforts of NAMB and its mission partners. If you or someone you know are interested in becoming a MSC missionary, contact Kimberly Haney at 1 800 462-8657, ext. 6473 for more information and an application.

"Multiply "—Lostness Tours Planned Across North America

A great way to get your church active in its "Multiply" commitment to church planting is by participating in a Lostness Tour organized through the Church Planting
Group at NAMB. Tours are currently being planned in
dozens of locations in North America.
For more information
on how your church can participate, contact Steve Nerger at (678) 457-9477, or e-mail snerger@namb.net.
