Samaria Update—June 2005

This periodic update is designed to help churches that have    embraced the Acts 1:8 Challenge be aware of resources from the North American Mission Board (NAMB). Use them as your
church plans and implements its strategy to be involved in
reaching North America for Christ.

"Prepare"—Seek God’s Vision to Reach Samaria and the World

A fervent, focused season of prayer for God’s vision and leadership is essential for all those involved in embracing the Acts 1:8 Challenge. As missions leaders, it is essential that we actively seek the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit as we lead our churches to be fully involved in God’s history-long worldwide mission. Pause now and pray for God’s leadership and direction in your life and the life of your church. For prayer resources visit www.namb.net/prayer or www.imb.org/compassionnet.

"Learn"—Host an MME in Your Church

An excellent way to bring missions awareness to your church is to conduct a Missions/Mobilization Event (MME). An MME is typically focused around a missions fair and can help your church mobilize to be on mission with God. A comprehensive guide to assist you in planning an MME is available online.  If you have questions or would like more information about planning and conducting an MME, contact Church Relations  at the North American Mission Board at (770) 410-6321 or   e-mail churchrelations@namb.net.

"Pray"—Use Missionary Moments in Worship Services

Use information from the booklet Missionary Moments as a part of your church’s worship services. This publication features two Southern Baptist missionaries and prayer requests each week. To order copies, contact your state Cooperative Program office or the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program office at 1 800 722-9407 or visit  www.cpmissions.net.

"Give"—World Hunger Fund Helps Your State and Community

When your church contributes to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund, 80 percent is sent to the International Mission Board and 20 percent is sent to NAMB to support hunger projects throughout the world and North America. More than likely, someone in your state, and perhaps your association, benefits directly from these hunger funds. More information about the World Hunger Fund is available at  www.namb.net/hunger.

"Go"—START Can Assist with Mobilization Opportunities

Need to talk to a NAMB representative about mobilization opportunities available to your church? Personalized service for churches is available through the Strategic Training and Resource Team (START). For more information, contact Dick and Ann German at (931) 962-0333 or e-mail   start@namb.net.

"Tell"—Equip Members to Share their Faith

Equip your members on how to share their faith. 1) Conduct a One-Day/One-Hour Witnessing Workshop. Free materials are available from NAMB here. 2) Plan NET training for your members. The NET is an eight-week evangelism training tool designed to equip believers to share the gospel through their story/testimony. More information is available by contacting Victor Benavides at (770) 410-6317 or e-mail evangelism@namb.net.

"Send"—God is Calling Your Members to Service

Most churches have members who God is calling to be career missionaries. Career missionaries engage in evangelism, church planting, church and community ministries, and other special ministries. Are you issuing the call to your members? For more information about serving in full-time vocational ministry with NAMB, call 1 800 462-8657 or e-mail call@namb.net.

"Multiply"—Get Involved in Church Planting

Investigate the possibilities of connecting with a church planter for the purpose of starting a new work. For information about North America church planting, visit the NAMB Church Planting Web site, www.namb.net/cp, or call (770) 410-6218 for more information.
