Standard OMC Formats

There are four standard On Mission Celebration formats. Each format offers several opportunities for local church members to meet and hear international, North American, and state Southern Baptist missionaries. Each format is designed to be a complete OMC with neither being considered innately better than another.
Simply select a format that best fits your associaton's needs, schedule, and budget. Contact your state On Mission Celebration Coordinator to begin the scheduling process.

Option 1.  One Day   
The one-day OMC usually takes place on a Sunday and uses a short, intense period in which church members have the opportunity to meet three to four missionaries. Most associations choosing this format conduct some type of associational wide special event on Saturday prior to having missionaries speak in churches on Sunday. Sunday provides opportunities for missionaries to speak in three to four different churches. Missionaries could speak to one church during the Sunday School hour, moring worship service, the time slot traditionally used for Discipleship Training, and evening worship services. Sunday luncheon with church families is another option associations have exercised when selecting the one-day OMC format. Missionaries generally travel home on Monday.

Option 2.  Two Day
This option usually takes place on a Saturday and Sunday or a Sunday and Monday. Often, an associational special event such as a Missions Walk Around or kickoff rally on Saturday is part of this option. Some associations using this format schedule missionaries to speak in churches on Saturday evenings in addition to the three to four times on Sunday.

Option 3. Three Day
This option usually takes place either as a Friday through Sunday or a Saturday through Monday event.
One model utilizing a Friday through Sunday involves an  associatonal special event on Friday evening or Saturday morning or afternoon with missionaries speaking in churches on Saturday evening and speaking three to four times on Sunday. Associations choosing the Satuday through Monday option have missionaries speaking in churches on Saturday evening and on Sunday. Monday provides opportunities for a noon-day rally and/or other associational OMC event that eveining.

Option 4. Four Day
The four-day OMC usually is a Sunday through Wednesday event. It offers several opporutnities for church members to participate. Generally guest missionary speakers arrive on Saturday and participate in an associatonal OMC kickoff event in the evening.
