Share Your Story - God at Work in North America

The North American Mission Board wants to encourage Southern Baptists to participate in volunteer missions in North America. The Share Your Story website is designed to allow Southern Baptists to share their stories of God's work through Southern Baptist volunteer mission trips in North America. Sharing the stories of the extraordinary moments God allows us to participate in through ministry with Him is one of the ways we can encourage others. Share Your Story is designed to allow people participating in short-term volunteer mission opportunities, and ministries blessed by the labors of short-term mission volunteers, to share stories that proclaim the mighty works of God.

Tell others how God changed your life through a short-term mission opportunity. Testify to the power of God to draw the lost into His eternal Kingdom. Encourage others to listen for the call to missions and respond with enthusiasm. Give thanks to God for the blessing of volunteers to help your ministry touch the lives of the people in your community. Remember to keep the focus on the power of God to change lives as you share stories that will encourage others to step out in faith and follow God's leadership into mission opportunities. "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

Go to the Share Your Story submission form and fill in the blanks. Start by telling us who you are and include the name of the Southern Baptist Congregation where you are a member. Then give your story a title so people will know what it is about. Type your story and then select the ministry to which your missions experience is most closely related. There is a place to include a photo with your story, so, if you have a really good one add it. Please be sure you have permission from the people in the photo to publish their picture on a website. All that is left is to click the submit button. You will receive an email shortly confirming that your story has been submitted.

Your story will not be edited except to ensure compliance with North American Mission Board guidelines. So, take care to proofread what you have written before submitting it through the web form. Keep your story short. Be sure you get permission to use the names of other people in your story, or disguise the details enough to protect the privacy of the individuals in the story. Remember the four W's of telling a story, Who, What, When and Where. Then tell us Why you would do it all again. Your story might be the tool God uses to call a brother or sister to the mission field.
