Ministry Wife, You are Not Alone

By Guest Post

And, let me tell you, these are some tough women. They have faced relocations, chronic illness, prodigal children, death of family and friends, hurt inflicted by church members, and the everyday trials of life with integrity and a faith that inspires me every day.

They are brave. They are resourceful. They are smart. They are strong.

They are ministry wives just like me, and just like you.

And, here’s one of the most important things I learned from being a part of this group: If you are facing a giant in your land, please know this – you are not alone.

Life in the ministry can often seem isolating. Many of us have moved away from family and childhood friends to follow God’s call. We have given up big houses, fancy cars, and the newest gadgets so that our husbands can attend seminary and serve small churches. Finding close friends can often be difficult, and some days we feel the weight of the whole world as we know it.

But here, in this corner of the Internet, we can find “kindred spirits” – others who have walked the road before us and who can encourage us in the journey.

Father, thank you for the thousands upon thousands of ministry wives around the world. Thank you that you have called us to this life alongside our husbands. Thank you for equipping us to do the work before us. When times are tough, we rest in Your provision. When hard times come, we rely on Your grace and mercy. When trials overwhelm us, we trust You to give us all we need for the moment. Thank you for friendships, whether online or face-to-face. Thank you for the many good gifts You give us. Help us when we falter. Forgive us when we sin. Forgive us when we doubt and forget to trust. Thank you for Jesus. Amen.

Do you feel alone today? Are you carrying a burden? Leave your name in the comments, and we will pray for you.
