General Questions

Why should I give to NAMB?
Since 1845 when the Board of Domestic Missions (now known as the North American Mission Board) was founded by the Southern Baptist Convention, we have been dedicated to spreading the hope of the gospel. NAMB’s mission is to partner with state and local Southern Baptists to support their efforts in planting new churches. NAMB also assists Southern Baptists in living life on mission by connecting them with volunteer missional opportunities such as disaster relief, community engagement, and other mercy ministries around North America.  NAMB’s purpose is to evangelize, provide support to churches so that they can plant churches, disciple, and lead those that are lost and forgotten to the gospel is supported by your generosity.

We have a long-standing history of honoring our mission with faith and integrity.  NAMB is accredited by and follow the strict guidelines set by the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability (ECFA). The North American Mission Board answers to God, Southern Baptists, our Board of Trustees, and to you; our trusted partners.

How do I update my contact information?

If you have an account in our secure Giving Portal, you may also update your personal information, change your password, update payment method(s) and view historical giving.  You can access the Giving Portal and register for an account, if you haven’t done so already.

What if I need help when making my gift; who do I contact?

Will my gift incur any sort of fee?
No. One hundred percent of your gift goes directly to the work you designate. No administrative fee is withheld from gifts.

How can I obtain a receipt for my gift?
Receipts are issued for each donation via USPS and/or an electronic receipt for all made via Our goal is to issue receipts within two weeks of the gift date, as well as an annual statement by the end of January each year.  If no further donations are made, no further receipts are issued. We do not send reminders for recurring gifts. If you receive receipts via email, please check your junk mail or deleted mail folder. If you receive paper receipts, the receipt may have been lost in the mail. If you do not receive a receipt after donating, you may contact the Giving Team by email at or by phone at 800.634.2462 and request the re-issue of a duplicate receipt.

What if I don’t want receipts and just want an annual statement?
Contact NAMB’s Development Department by email at or by phone at 800.634.2462, and we will arrange to stop automatic receipts and just send a statement around the end of January for tax preparation.

I want to donate to a specific project; how do I find it?
At the top of our Giving Portal, you will find a search box, as well as several filters.  This will allow you to search our unique portfolio of giving opportunities.  If you are unable to locate the specific project or designation, please contact our Giving Team for assistance.

How do I directly support an NAMB missionary?
In 1977, the Southern Baptist Convention established Mission Service Corps as part of our efforts to expand the missionary force to reach the world for Christ. Missionaries who serve through MSC funding make up a team of long-term, self-funded missionaries. By securing their own support for an assigned ministry, these missionaries enable the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to extend its evangelism and church planting efforts. While the Cooperative Program and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® support many of our Southern Baptist missionaries, these do not provide direct salary support for all of them, nor the expanding need for more missionaries. All missionaries serving through MSC funding are beneficiaries of the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® (AAEO) and the Cooperative Program(CP) which provides resources, training, and missionary support. Your giving, whether direct to an MSC, or through your donation to the Cooperative Program or the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering will support NAMB’s efforts to spread the gospel.

May I contact the missionary in charge of the special project I donated to?
Due to security reasons, we require that you contact the Giving Team at or by phone at 800.634.2462 so that we may contact the missionary on your behalf. It is at the discretion of the individual missionary to determine if they wish to communicate directly with you or provide our team with their contact information for you.

How will I know how my gift was utilized?
All gifts and their designations are properly entered in our financial system, receipted in a timely manner to the giver, and audited for appropriate use.  When you give to the North American Mission Board, you want to know that your gifts are really making a difference. That’s why we’re committed to helping you understand the real impact of your donations. What is the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering?
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® for North American missions has been an annual offering benefitting missionaries and their work of sharing the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ since 1895. Named in honor of Annie Armstrong, a passionate Southern Baptist advocate of missions who lived 1850-1938, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is the primary funding channel for the North American Mission Board, comprising 49 percent of our total annual support.

Every dollar goes to train, resource and equip missionaries working throughout the United States, Canada and their territories. The offering represents the trust that Southern Baptists place in our missionary force and our stewardship of these funds. Each year the offering totals approximately $60 million with more than $1 billion having been raised since the offering’s inception. What is the Cooperative Program?
The Southern Baptist worldwide missions’ enterprise is funded in large part through the unique, efficient, and equitable Cooperative Program. A portion of the undesignated tithes and offerings of individuals received by SBC churches becomes Cooperative Program dollars. Currently, CP provides 38 percent of NAMB’s annual support. Security & Privacy

Will you sell my information to a third party?
Your privacy, as well as your personal information, is very important to us. We value and honor your privacy by establishing an environment of trust and safety. Information, including names and addresses, beneficiaries, gifts amounts, and estate information, is kept strictly confidential by all authorized personnel of the North American Mission Board, unless permission is obtained in writing from you. Can I trust NAMB with my gift?
We have a history of faithfully fulfilling our mission. We are accountable before God, Southern Baptists, and our Board of Trustees, and we are accredited by, and follow, the strict guidelines of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability (EFCA).

How secure is my gift online?
NAMB’s online giving option utilizes industry standard, best practice encryption to process your gift. We do not retain your credit card information. Information for recurring gifts is processed through a third party, which is accountable to the same security regulations as the banking industry.

Legal & Tax Questions

What is NAMB’s Tax ID Number?
The North American Mission Board is a registered 501(c)3 organization with tax identification number 58-2379481.

Are my donations to NAMB tax deductible? Will I get a receipt?
NAMB is a tax exempt nonprofit organization under 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code; we are qualified to receive tax deductible donations. A receipt is provided for each donation we receive. However, we encourage everyone to work with their tax professional to ensure their charitable goals are met or exceeded in completing each gift. When do I have to send in my gift for it to count in this calendar year?
Year-end gift credit may require some extra planning to insure your gift is credited for tax purposes in the current tax year. IRS regulations require that contributions sent by private carriers (i.e. FedEx, UPS, etc.) must be dated based on the date of receipt by the charity, whereas gifts sent through USPS can be dated and receipted based on the envelope’s postmark.

When can I expect to receive my year-end receipt?
All year-end receipts are typically mailed the last week in January.

How do I designate NAMB as a beneficiary in my estate?

However, we encourage everyone to work with their legal professional to ensure their estate planning goals are met or exceeded in completing their legacy/planned giving goals. Ways to Give

Do you accept credit or debit card donations over the phone?
No, not this time, we are unable to take this information over the phone. You may however visit our secure Giving Portal.

Is it okay to send cash?

To whom do I designate my check?
Please make your check payable to NAMB.  For IRS compliance, please do not write missionary or project names on your check memo line.  Enclose a note stating the missionary name or project name you would like to support.  All gifts without a designation will be directed to the Missions Fund, our greatest missions need.

Can I Give by Mail?
Yes, simply fill out the following form, print it and mail it, along with your check, to the following address:

What types of gifts do you accept?
NAMB accepts most forms of outright gifts. However, there are some exceptions, especially as it relates to real estate and personal property. Please contact the Giving Team to ensure your specific gift qualifies under our accepted policies.

Can I give a gift online?

Do you offer recurring donations?
Yes. Recurring gifts can be made via credit card or e-check/ACH; they can be made in any amount and scheduled for your convenience. You can set this up online by visiting our secure Giving Portal. Can I manage my own credit card giving online?
Yes; once you have registered using our secure Giving Portal. You can edit your payment method(s) here by logging into your account and making any necessary changes. You can also use your profile to update your personal information, change your password, and view historical giving.

How do I make a gift in memory of or in honor of an individual?
You can make a gift in honor or memory of an individual and direct it to an appropriate program or fund by informing us with a note accompanying your mailed gift. After you have named your honoree, you may opt for NAMB to send an acknowledgement to that individual. If you wish for NAMB to send an acknowledgement note, please include a name and mailing address for the recipient.

Mail your check, don’t forget to include a note with the type of tribute (In Honor or In Memory), whether you want the honoree to receive an acknowledgement, and if so, that person’s name and mailing address to:

What is a matching gift and will my company participate?
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will double or even triple any charitable contributions made by employees, retirees, or spouses. You can check to see if your company will match your donation to NAMB by visiting our Matching Gift page. If your company is eligible, you will be able to see the details of your employer’s matching gift program as well as link to the necessary form, you can then send it, completed, with your gift, and we will do the rest.  If you have any questions, you can contact or by phone at 800.634.2462.

How do I make a gift of securities/stock?

How do I make a gift of personal property or real estate?
If you would like to donate personal property to NAMB, please contact the Giving Team at or by phone at 800.634.2462. Depending on the gift, we may connect you with your local Baptist state foundation to better assist you because most gifts require appraisal or advance approval.
