With over 2.6 million people living in the metro area, Portland is a large city that needs a large number of churches. Unfortunately, there’s a weak evangelical presence in the city, that leaves many non-Christians untouched by the gospel. Local church planters are seeking help in their dilemma.

“We need an abundance of sending and supporting churches to come alongside our planters in Portland,” said Clay Holcomb, Portland Send City Missionary. In order to spread the message of Christ to the people of Portland, Christians in the area need churches that are willing to send missionaries to the streets of the city and support local church planters in their efforts.

“Our local church planters are beginning to form partnerships across the nation,” continues Holcomb. “Partnerships with fellow Southern Baptist churches are allowing new church plants to thrive while they spread the good news of Christ and form relationships with the people of Portland,” said Holcomb.
