    Appalachian Regional Ministry

Appalachian Regional Ministry mobilizes Southern Baptists and their resources to provide ministries, evangelize the lost, assist existing churches and start new churches in the 12 states that include Appalachia.

Why Appalachia? The region's original blend of immigrant cultures has become a distinct, rich culture of its own that goes far beyond the beauty of the surroundings. It also is one of extreme poverty—with 37 of the 100 poorest counties in the United States. And while religion is important in Appalachia, the reality is that more than 70 percent of the region is unchurched -- with some counties are as high as 90 percent unchurched.

Working in cooperation with state conventions, associations and churches throughout the region, we want to help you and your church make a profound impact in Appalachia.
