Dave and Jeanne Wedekind
519 16th St. SE
Rochester, MN 55904

jwedekind@mwbc.org
Jeanne and Dave serve in Minnesota as the state disaster relief directors for the Minnesots/Wisconsin Baptist Convention. I, Jeanne, shared a couple of years ago that I was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma and was to begin chemotherapy. After six intense three-day treatments I was declared "in remission" and began two additional years of maintenance chemo. Due to worsening side effects, this week my hematologist decided to end the chemo treatments of two and a half years saying his treatments were making me sicker each time. Enough about that part. Now about the praise! First I'm so thankful God directed my doctor to call it quits on this maintenance chemo. Yippee! Thank you God! This week I had a lot of people working on me for several hours trying to clear my plugged power port with drugs, injections, movements like stretching, bending, coughing, etc. God gave me a captive audience in the lab and then in the infusion center. I had the opportunity to share with four different people about trusting God completely, looking for and following His direction in life and praising Him through every event in this life's journey. Some interesting questions were asked, and I could share how faithfully God has worked in my life. I'm back at work—quite sore—but praising God for all He's done for me through this journey. I'm praising Him for the wonderful opportunities He's provided through every Mayo Clinic visit, for keeping my eyes open to opportunities and giving me the nudge to say something. And now I am thanking Him for ending my chemo schedule. I am one blessed, smiling person, and I'm thanking Him for my supportive circle of friends who have faithfully prayed with Dave and me through this. May it all have been for God's glory alone! Jeanne

"Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well" (1 Peter 4:10).

BJ Hall is a disaster relief chaplain serving in Oklahoma. This is an update on my prayer request concerning my shoulder replacement. God has been faithful. The surgery was June 19. I have not had pain since Friday, June 23. The surgery was successful. I am now in recovery mode. I started physical therapy July 13. They did not tell me it wouldn't hurt. But they did say it will be worth it. I am praying that the Lord would give me the strength to go through it and result in full function of the shoulder.
