A prayer for planter wives

By Kathy Ferguson Litton

Father, we lift up women who are carrying the good news of the gospel to the people and places you have assigned to them. Father, be her light, salvation, and strong tower. Hide her in the shelter of your wing. God, protect her from the onslaught of the evil one. May she stand firm in your truth.

Where she is believing a lie, we ask that your truth will set her free. When she is tempted to lose hope, be her living hope. We ask that no weapon formed against her will prosper. We pray that she would be filled with the knowledge of your will and spiritual understanding.

Father, in anxiety, give her your peace and your presence. We pray she can lay aside the weight of worry to cast her cares on you. We pray she feeds on the Word and sound teaching. Father, cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against her knowledge of you. Be the lifter of her head when her soul is downcast.

O Lord, give her an iron-sharpening friendship. Provide her with relationships and community to encourage her as a planter’s spouse.

We pray she puts on the whole armor to stand against the wiles of the devil. Let the joy of the Lord be her strength. Lord, sanctify her by your truth. Father, we pray that she yields to the constant work of transformation by the Holy Spirit.

Fill her heart with your life, love, and strength to pour into her family. Give her patience, endurance, and grace to enable her to mother well. Give her generous love and genuine respect for her husband. We pray that her marriage is marked by growing oneness and unity. Protect their marriage from sexual sin. Enable her to build her home and family with wisdom and understanding.

We pray that she may open her mouth to speak boldly of the gospel. Father, enable her to genuinely love her city and to seek its good. God give her a deep passion to live daily on mission and give her favor as she builds relationships. Show her how she can serve and love her community.

Create in her a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within her.

We pray that she will be rooted and grounded in your love — and she will know its width, length, height, and depth.

We pray that she would be fruitful in every good work and increasing in her knowledge of God, strengthened by His might and His glorious power for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

For your glory and the good of your kingdom, Amen.,
