At the center of every great evangelistic movement is prayer. North America needs the gospel. Your prayers make a difference.

This Week’s Prayer Requests

Each week, we feature prayer requests from our North American missions personnel and SBC chaplains. To get these requests from our missionaries and chaplains in your inbox each Wednesday, subscribe to our prayer newsletter.

Please pray that God will continue to bless the preaching of His Word, bless the conversion of souls and add more workers for the harvest. Pray that a Christian family who loves God’s Word and His church will decide to become part of this church. Pray God will raise up ministries within this church.

My wife, Lisa, had total hip replacement. She is home recovering and dealing with surgical pain. Pray for her please.

I minister through music and messages and provide pastoral care to numerous care centers in western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina. Please remember my family in prayer. We need new ministry partners and for souls to be saved in the 54 care centers we are attempting to serve. I’m praising God for the help we presently have, as we have transitioned back into outdoor services for the shut-in communities we have been privileged to serve for 32 years now. Thank you all for your prayers and kindness!

Lately crime and drug problems have been on the rise in our neighborhood. While there are multiple factors, a major reason is that the city moved more than 3,000 homeless people from shelters into hotels in our community. This overwhelmed the neighborhood. As a church plant valuing to locally contextualize ministry, this presents unique challenges and opportunities along with the issues of COVID-19 and racial tension. Pray for our core team as we live missionally and invite others to join us in Jesus’ kingdom work.

Thank you to all who prayed during my time away for some rest. I was in an amazing place, and I had a wonderful time with my Father. As we are moving closer to schools opening up, please pray as I will be going back into two of our local schools—Anniston High School and Golden Springs Elementary (an Anniston school as well). Pray I will build relationships with both students and teachers as they work through the challenges they may face in the days ahead.

My wife, Jill, is currently hospitalized with COVID-19 pneumonia. Please pray healing for her.

At the end of 2019, we found a place to plant a coffeehouse church, which was a safe, inviting and welcoming environment for both believers and non-believers. From hosting events to participating in outreach with a coffee cart, we were taking steps to become a church “in and for the community,” so every person, family and society would overflow with hope. However, we recently had to move out of the place where we dreamed, prepared and ministered to people for Jesus. The COVID-19 pandemic created many changes and challenges, and we need a different place to minister to people through the current situations. We found a potential new location, and we heard that the owners of the building welcome us to be a coffeehouse church in their shopping center. Please pray for us that the transitioning process to the new location will be smooth and that God will send us people to support our church planting journey. Pray also that we can launch our church through these pandemic situations.

I am in dire need of prayer right now. After the passing of my parents, my sister and I inherited their house. Due to irreconcilable differences, I have listed the property for sale. I would appreciate prayer for a peaceful outcome without conflict and fighting. My sister is bipolar and has gone berserk. This prompted the sale.

Our town has been allowing us to meet in a park, in two gatherings with a limit of 25 each, for the past 8 weeks. Praise God! This week they bumped up our attendance limit so we can gather for worship as one church for the first time since March 8. As the weather get colder here in Colorado, we will need an indoor location in which to gather. Please pray for God’s provision. We’ve made several new connections while meeting in the park. Pray for confessions of faith in Jesus among these people and that we can make deeper connections with them. Pray also that our neighborhood ministries (kids camps, small groups, hospitality, benevolence) will continue to make kingdom advancements.

As is true with many churches, we find ourselves unable to do events in our typical location. We do nearly all of our events on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit (as we make efforts to reach college students), and they have informed us that they will allow no events on campus this fall semester. Please join us in praying for God’s wisdom and guidance as we explore in prayer where He is leading us during the next semester, or even the entire academic year. We are holding tightly to the truth that He gives generously to those who ask!

I Prayed

Pray that a building for us to use will open up if we are not allowed to return to our elementary school. Pray for wisdom as we make plans for how to best reach college students amid restrictions related to COVID-19. Pray for wisdom for me as I seek to lead our church to be effective at outreach and discipleship. Ask God to give me wisdom in how to maximize my time most effectively.

I’m applying for a full-time chaplaincy position at the Kansas City VA. Right now I’m part time. Please pray that I will be satisfied with whatever God gives.

I Prayed

Please pray for me and a team of chaplains as we plan to launch an evening service at All American Chapel this fall or winter. Also pray for wisdom as we navigate uncertainties during this season of COVID-19. Pray for revival and baptisms.

I Prayed

Please pray that our churches can reach people during these summer months. Because of the current pandemic, our regular opportunities have been halted. We also have churches who need pastor and support personnel. Please pray God will call the right people to fill these positions. Please pray for jobs for those in need of employment. Our Savior is gracious and caring in meeting every need. Thank you for praying for all of these needs to be met for His Glory.

I Prayed

Please pray for the men and women in Arkansas prisons who have tested positive and are infected with the coronavirus. The numbers are growing. Please pray for all the cultural and economic challenges we are facing as a nation during the continuing pandemic. Pray for those impacted by natural disasters and for the continued uncertainty faced by kids, families and teachers about returning to school this fall. Thank you. Harold Mitchell, Emeritus IMB missionary.

Thank you to all of our SBC prayer warriors for praying for my family and me as we ended our two and one-half years at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. We saw 11,090 soldiers give their lives to Jesus during that period. Now, my family and I are serving at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. Please, join us in prayer that thousands of cadets will come to our Protestant chapel services and will come to Jesus for salvation and be discipled. God gave me Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” I pray God will shine on His Son, Jesus, so our cadets will experience His eternal and daily freedom. Thank you so very much! For Christ and country! Chaplain (CPT) Jose Rondon: USMA Regimental Chaplain
